Special Services, Festivals and Feast Days

Trinity Sunday — Sunday 26 May
Trinity Sunday marks the start of the Sundays in Ordinary Time. The usual Sunday masses will be held on Trinity Sunday, and there will be a festal procession with High Mass at 11.00 am.

Corpus Christi — Thursday 30 May
A special Mass in thanksgiving for the Holy Communion is held on the first Thursday after the end of the Easter season. This service of Corpus Christi has strong links with the mass commemorating the Institution of the Sacrament of the Eucharist on Maundy Thursday. High Mass will be celebrated at 6.15 pm, and will be followed by the Procession of the Blessed Sacrament and Benediction. A light meal will be available in the hall after this service.

St Peter's Day — Sunday 30 June
Our Patronal Festival will be celebrated on Sunday the 30th June, transferred from the 29th. See below for details of High Mass and the following lunch.

St Peter's Day Celebrations

St Peter's Day High Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 am on Sunday the 30th of June, transferred from Saturday the 29th so that more people will be able to attend.
High Mass will be a combined service incorporating the usual Family Mass and High Mass. The mass setting will be 'Missa Criolla' by Ariel Ramírez (1921-2010). Ramírez was an Argentinian composer and music director, and is considered a chief exponent of Argentinian folk music.

Lunch will be served in the Hall following the Mass. It will comprise a roast carvery followed by delicious dessert. A string quartet will provide music throughout the meal.

Following the meal, Evensong and Benediction will be held at 3 pm and will take the form of a choral service with choir and organ.

Tickets for the meal are $35 per person. School aged children are $18 and under 5s are free.

Please book tickets or tables of 10 by contacting Sue Wuttke: 0422 866 286 or

ISS Seminars

Wednesday 26 June, 2013 — Different view of 'Holy War'

Christianity, as much as Islam, has a tradition of holy war. In this seminar, The Rev'd Michael Raiter will examine the teaching of the Bible on holy war, and then compare and contrast Christian and Islamic positions on this issue. Mike wil argue that justice needs to be done to both the teaching of the Qur'an and the teaching of the Bible on the 'struggle for God'.

The Rev'd Michael Raiter spent 11 years working as a missionary in Pakistan. In 2012 he launched the Centre for Biblical Preaching based at St James Old Cathedral.

See the
ISS page for further details.

Saturday 27 July, 2013 — A Jewish Storyteller

Donna Jacobs Sife is a professional storyteller, who draws from Jewish and other world folklore and sacred traditions to tell stories of justice, conflict, fear and humanity. She has been a regular columnist for the Australian Jewish News, and has also written for The Age, Sydney Morning Herald and has published numerous short stories and poetry.

She will entertain the ISS audience with her particular brand of storytelling, humour and humanity during this Saturday morning session: in the church hall from 9.30 am to 12.30 pm on July 27.

See the ISS page for further details.
